An honourable gentleman

I was very sorry to read this:
Reading Tories dump councillor Jamie Chowdhary - News - getreading - Reading Post

Despite being one of Cllr Chowdhary's political adversaries, I always found him to be a person of genuine honour, a real gentleman.

So, when I was in the quite odd position of proposing him for the Police Authority, (you may remember the story, there was a coalition, it was a thing) I used these words to make the case in a private email to the relevant committee chair:

"He has a high level of interpersonal skills and varied experience, which he uses to make good points without trampling anyone. He's extremely well liked by us."

Sadly, not long after, cancer took its toll, even so he has kept cheerfully soldiering on, to what I thought was the admiration of all.

I do wonder whether his de-selection is a sign that the Nasty Party is reforming in Rob Wilson's Reading East. If so, I am very pleased to be a part of the alternative to that type of politics.
